Now, There Really is a Monster (Movie) Under Your Bed

showroom_bedtv.jpgCrescendo Designs has taken the art of combining high-end home technology with great interior design to new heights—and depths—with its revolutionary motorized lift that hides a flat screen television under a luxurious custom bed.

The bed was designed with Savoir, a London-based firm regarded as the world’s most luxurious sleeping system manufacturer and uses a Crestron home control system. A simple touch of a button is all it takes for the TV to come up from under the bed and lift to the perfect viewing height.

“At Crescendo, we’re in tune with a home’s overall aesthetic and are always working with leading interiors companies and our home technology partners to come up with innovative ways to seamlessly and artfully integrate systems into a room’s décor,” explained Chris Brody, president and CEO of Crescendo Designs. The company also brings similar functionality to both home office and media room designs.

For the home office, Crescendo designed a Crestron-controlled automated television installation. When the TV is turned on, it automatically moves into the preset position facing the client’s desk. With the press of a button on the remote, the TV will shift over and face the seating area. Once turned off, it retracts back into the wall so the client—and their office—can get back down to business.

Another Crescendo-designed system enables a client to turn virtually any living room into a theater room. With the press of a button on a Crestron control panel, the projector and screen lowers from the ceiling while Lutron shade lowers to block the light from outside.

Experience these systems—and more—at the Crescendo Experience Center, a state-of-the-art, 2,500-square-foot showroom that features high-end home furnishings, seamlessly blended with the latest in home entertainment technology. To schedule your appointment, contact us.

star-mediaroom.jpgSometimes, the art of great home technology design is more about what you don’t see than what you do. Such is the case of with a recent project Crescendo Designs completed in a 2,500-square foot apartment in Manhattan’s Central Park West with Facet Construction.

While the space features the latest in high-end audio and video equipment — from its Runco televisions and  Crestron audio and video distribution system to its Lutron whole home automated lighting system and motorized shades throughout — it’s those design elements that you don’t initially see that have the most impact in maintaining the apartment’s clean, crisp design aesthetic, according to  Steve Berry, Senior Design Consultant.

star-livingroom.jpgThe homeowner had a real eye for both design and technology,” he explains “There are top-of-the-line selections throughout the space – even those that you don’t readily see.”

The apartment’s touch panels and keypads are installed with TRUFIG, the award-winning solution that makes electrical outlets, keypads, touch panels and other similar devices virtually invisible in sheetrock as well as in solid surfaces such as granite, marble and wood. The home’s Sonance architectural speakers provide crystal-clear sound but virtually disappear into the wall, while the theater room’s projector and screen also disappear—into the ceiling—when not in use.

When the theater room is in use, Lutron automated shades in this and other rooms darken the interior without blocking the apartment’s spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline.

Second-story media room is the pinnacle of design—and ingenuity.

103 Inch Plasma TVDesigning a media room around a big screen TV is all in a day’s work for the in-house professionals at Crescendo Designs. Unless, of course, it’s on the second-floor of a Southampton home with doors and hallways too narrow to accommodate the owner’s brand new Runco 103-inch plasma screen TV.

But Crescendo’s manufacturer-certified team rose to the challenge, in every sense of the word—lifting the 480-lb. television up to the second floor via an industrial construction crane.

“While we’ve tackled low ceilings in basements many times when designing a media room, this is the first time we faced this kind of challenge,” says RJ Hogan, Crescendo Project Manager.  “It was definitely a unique installation, but the end result is just spectacular.”

The television, equipped with BluRay, HD Cable, Crestron AMDS and game systems, is now the focal point of a breathtaking room designed to fit the owner’s technical specifications, aesthetic and lifestyle. Its surround sound system features high-end Bowers & Wilkins speakers, Velodyne in-wall subwoofers and a Rotel processor and amplication system.

Runco103_installed.jpgBehind the television’s wall, shear Lutron automated shades enable the owner to easily dim the light without detracting from the home’s spectacular ocean views. And it can all be easily controlled—virtually anytime, from anywhere—using the home’s Crestron home integration system, which enables the owner to access the systems from throughout the house or remotely via his iPhone or computer.
