Designing a media room around a big screen TV is all in a day’s work for the in-house professionals at Crescendo Designs. Unless, of course, it’s on the second-floor of a Southampton home with doors and hallways too narrow to accommodate the owner’s brand new Runco 103-inch plasma screen TV.
But Crescendo’s manufacturer-certified team rose to the challenge, in every sense of the word—lifting the 480-lb. television up to the second floor via an industrial construction crane.
“While we’ve tackled low ceilings in basements many times when designing a media room, this is the first time we faced this kind of challenge,” says RJ Hogan, Crescendo Project Manager. “It was definitely a unique installation, but the end result is just spectacular.”
The television, equipped with BluRay, HD Cable, Crestron AMDS and game systems, is now the focal point of a breathtaking room designed to fit the owner’s technical specifications, aesthetic and lifestyle. Its surround sound system features high-end Bowers & Wilkins speakers, Velodyne in-wall subwoofers and a Rotel processor and amplication system.
Behind the television’s wall, shear Lutron automated shades enable the owner to easily dim the light without detracting from the home’s spectacular ocean views. And it can all be easily controlled—virtually anytime, from anywhere—using the home’s Crestron home integration system, which enables the owner to access the systems from throughout the house or remotely via his iPhone or computer.
